New choreography for the Rite of Spring

This week, as the orchestra continues to work section by section through the score, we finally had a chance to preview Agnieszka Laska’s tremendous new choreography in celebration of our Rite of Spring centennial event:

The performance is ONE NIGHT ONLY: Friday, June 7 at 8pm in Lincoln Hall. Tickets are now on sale at the PSU Box Office, 503-725-3307.

Ken, Great job last night. It was from start to finish the most incredible PSU concert I’ve ever been to, and I’ve been to many. Thanks for bringing the centenary to Portland. It was a great way to celebrate.

I am still trying to digest what I saw last night. The orchestral performance was absolutely first rate. The choreography was interesting, it was extremely intense, but I also found it disturbing, which I suppose is the point. In any case, it is great that you were able to bring such a thought provoking event to PSU, very well done.

Congratulations to everybody. It was very cool to see musicians on stage with the dancers. I have never seen that anywhere. I found the lighting effects totally amazing, to see the dancers bathed in intense color. Ken, you are an incredible musician, and I am so grateful that I was able to see the show.
