I hope everyone had a great summer. Here is some information about auditions and schedules for the fall term:
String auditions will take place Tue-Wed-Thu the first week of class. I will post a sign up sheet Monday morning (September 26) on my office door (Lincoln Hall 245B). I would like to hear scales, a solo piece you are currently working on, as well as some sight reading.
For wind and percussion auditions, please contact Ed Higgins.
Orchestra rehearsals begin the following week: October 4 and 6 (Tue and Thu).
The orchestra rehearsal schedule is a bit different this year. It is again Tue and Thu, but an hour earlier: 3-5pm, and we will rehearse in Lincoln Recital Hall (LH 75).
Additionally, we will have a new string ensemble this year for music performance and education majors. Our first performance is in December: the Four Seasons of Astor Piazzolla with Tomas Cotik. I believe the String Ensemble rehearsals will take place Tue from 12-1:30. Please clear your schedule at that time, and let me know if you have any conflicts, so we can figure those out before rehearsals begin.
As you see on the schedule, the December concerts at the Mission Theater take place during finals week. Please keep track of your final exam schedule and consult with me if you see any potential conflicts.
For the Thanksgiving week ballet performances, the pit holds a limited number of musicians, so not all students will be involved. I will try to let you know about those assignments early in the fall term.
